S&C is a fundamental part of modern sport. Whereas it was once believed that classical technique alone was sufficient to fence at the highest level, it is now known that if you don’t have the fitness, strength and stability to deploy your skillset then you can’t hope to compete successfully

The Effects

S&C made the biggest difference to my fencing when I became a full time athlete in 2005. Without making any other major changes to my training regime, in less than 12 months I went from approximately 400th in the world rankings into the top 100
